With Spring in the air (not Quite yet in Vermont), I am drawn to my Tarot decks focused on Plants. The Herbcrafter's Tarot is a favorite of mine. As a wildcrafter, this deck has some of my favorite wayside plants. This week, I saw my first signs of Spring- Crocuses coming up, migratory birds returning, and more mud than anyone knows what to do with. What signs of Spring are you seeing? And where are you from? I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. Read on- see if it's for you or someone that you know. Please share!
The reading begins with the Five of Fire/Wands/Black Cohosh. If this is your reading, you are fighting an uphill battle- but you are still standing. You are in a conflict for a higher purpose in your life- you will make it through this time, even if you feel like you will not. You are using your power and energy strategically, and you are pushing through. Things are not always what they seem; keep your eye on the bigger picture. What you are doing matters, even if you feel like you can't make any headway.
The Six of Air/Swords/Cattail appears next. As you are pushing back, you may have a 'flight' instinct. If this is your reading, you have moments of wanting to escape. You feel like you would be happier somewhere else. You don't feel like you are comfortable where you are, and you wish you could just pick up and move. You feel like you need a change- and you wonder if you should move and start over sometimes.
The Eight of Air/Swords/Licorice appears next. You feel like you are trapped. You are not in reality, but there are many reasons that you feel that you have to stay where you are. It is not easy to leave the situation that you are in, but you don't feel happy or comfortable where you are. You feel like you are in a position that you cannot get out of.
The key to this reading is The Hierophant/Cacao. It is an important time to focus on traditions and what makes life sacred. You may be getting too stuck in the day to day struggle and missing what is truly important. Maintain your traditions and what is sacred and meaningful in your life. Start the day with silence and ritual. A spiritual practice may really benefit you during this time. A teacher or guide could help point you in a good direction.
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, every day feels like a struggle. You are pushing through and feeling exhausted. You are fighting the 'good fight' but it is wearing you down. You feel like you want to leave because you don't feel safe or grounded where you are. But there are a lot of factors that are keeping you where you are. Leaving isn't something that is easy to do right now. All and all- it's a lot of complication. This trio of cards shows fight, flight, and trap. You are feeling all three of these things. The key to the reading is the only Major arcana card in the reading, and it points you in a direction of maintaining sacred traditions and finding a way to make the battle feel meaningful. It would be good to find a teacher that expands your mind or connects to a larger community focused on what is meaningful and real. It is possible that the conditions of your life have left you feeling like there is nothing that you can do. You are losing focus, passion and spark. You are weighted down in the mundane world, and could use a balance of spiritual tradition in your life to help you to see the larger picture. You may not be as trapped as you believe yourself to be. A broadening of perspective may help you find your way.
