This week, I decided to reach back to the roots of Tarot to work with the Cary Yale Visconti Tarocchi deck. This is the oldest deck that you can get in print; and shows us the roots to the cards- or where Tarot began. I shuffled this 15th century deck and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. I never know if it is for one person or for many. I am told that there are people that read this reading every week, and if it's not for them- they pass it on to someone else. Thank you for doing this- it is important to me that these readings reach the people that they are meant to help. This week's reading is for someone who is feeling discouraged about how long it takes to feel better sometimes. Read on- see if it's for you or someone that you know.
The reading begins with the V of Pentacles. If this is your reading, you are feeling stuck. Like it's hard to put one foot in front of the other. Everything feels like it takes so much energy, and you feel exhausted all of the time. You are feeling discouraged, depressed and like you don't know what to do next. You feel stuck in place- frozen, and unable to budge. But you are standing. You have been hurt over and over- and you are on your feet. But your heart is tired.
The Hanged Man appears next. You are in a state of suspension- at a crossroads. You can't keep walking the way that you have been. You have a choice to make, and you don't know what to do. This is a card of gaining wisdom in times when things are not decided. While this is not a comfortable state to be in, it provides an element of choice and reflection in your life. You are right up against a big change right now. Being still for a moment is not a bad thing. Take a deep breath and make the right turn at the crossroads.
The IX of Swords comes up next to remind you that you have been under a lot of stress and pressure. It all seems to pile up on you at night; so when you try to rest, you just can't seem to stop Thinking about everything. You worry about things that have happened and what has yet to materialize. Thoughts feel crushing and heavy at times. You can't stop thinking. You are tired and anxious.
The key to this reading is Judgment. You will find clarity and focus again- and soon. Something in your life came to an end, and now you are moving slowly (but surely) towards a rebirth. What is foggy now will be clear in very little time. You will know what you are doing, where you are, who you are and where you are going. You will move into a completely new stage of life, empowered and conscious of what your role in the world is.
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you have been in a frozen state for a while. Something caused you harm, and you put up a big wall of protection around yourself. You are doing what you need to do to make it through every day, but you feel exhausted by it all. When you try to rest at night, your worries pile up on you, and you find yourself awake at 3am- unable to settle back to sleep. You are in a cycle, and you feel like things are not moving. You are trying to stay positive, but it is increasingly hard. But you have not given up- you just keep moving forward. It is going to be worth it. Judgment brings you the clarity and renewal that you are seeking right now. Your head clears, and you know which direction to go in. Given the weight of these cards- please be gentle with yourself. You are surrounded by cards that are challenging right now, and you have not given up. Know that you will move forward with clarity and focus in the future. It's hard- but be in this time where nothing is yet decided. Try to breathe and be at peace as much as can be. There is light at the end of the tunnel you have been in.
