Every week, I shuffle the Tarot cards and ask for a reading for someone who will see this post. I never know who it will be for until I post it. It seems like people see the readings when there is a message that they need to hear. This week's reading was done on the Cary-Yale Visconti Tarot. It is a 15th century Tarot deck from Italy, and is thought to be one of the oldest versions of Tarot. There are 86 cards (instead of the traditional 78!), and the illustrations are rich and beautiful. This is a reading for someone that feels like everything is going by too fast all of the sudden, and doesn't know what to expect. Check it out, see if these old cards are speaking to you!
The reading begins with The Fool. If this is your reading, you have just started something new. You are on an adventure, wandering and unsure of where you are going. All possibilities are open right now, and you don't know what you are going to do next. You are trying to not stumble, but if you look at the card- there's a pesky dog trying to hold you back! This is a card of freedom and sometimes, foolishness too. There may be some advice to listen to.
Things are about to speed up and go by very fast with the Knight of Swords as the next card. You run as fast as you can, trying to do all that you need to do. Quite often, you figure out that you were running in the wrong direction and then you waste time. Everything is moving faster than you can keep up with. The pace doesn't feel comfortable to you and the winds keep changing.
The Moon comes up next, adding a mystical element to this. You are inspired and enchanted. But you feel like you don't really know what to expect. Things seem to be shifting and changing as fast as you can keep up with it. It's a good time to slow down and pay attention to your intuition and dreams. The Moon is Waning, and it is a good time to go inward and spend some time adjusting to the changes as they come.
The key to the reading is The Hermit. While the Fool walks without a plan, the Hermit is very deliberate. He holds time in his hands, and takes one step at a time. When you get this card, you are on a journey that is going to take a very long time. It's not about rushing and getting everything done, but settling into the place that you are. Make sure you get time and space to yourself. You may have a spiritual journey that will weave into your life, and this requires you to slow down and pay attention.
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you are off on a new adventure. There's something that you are really excited about that you are working on. People may be telling you to slow down, but it's not something you are able to do. You are really excited about what lies ahead. But this ends up leading you to a place where you are running in too many directions. There may be something that you are meant to experience that you are missing because you are moving too fast. The Moon and The Hermit both suggest that there is good reason to slow down and figure out the cycles and patterns of your new venture. Some time to yourself may be good, and slowing down a bit may be the solution to the problem right now. Do some wandering alone, read a book, sit under a tree- it feels like you need some silence to find your way.
