This week's reading was done on the Visconti Sforza Tarot. The Visconti-Sforza Tarot is a reproduction of a deck from the 15th Century, one of the oldest Tarot decks, featuring medieval scenes with no text. People often say that the Rider Waite/Pamela Coleman Smith Tarot is the original or traditional Tarot. Neither are true. The Rider Waite deck came about in 1909- hundreds of years after the Visconti Sforza. This deck doesn't look much like modern Tarot, but part of what makes Tarot amazing is the evolution of the cards, meanings and uses. I got this deck in 2002 at a shop in Brattleboro. It was my second Tarot deck, and it took a lot of work to become proficient in it. I love it for its rich tones and colorful history. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. This is a reading for a person that has been through a challenging time and is now coming out on the other side realizing that it all happened just like it was supposed to. Read on- see if it's for you or someone that you know!
The reading begins with the III of Wands. If this is your reading, you are letting go of something and moving on. It's not an easy thing to do. You take a deep breath and release it all. Perhaps you have been holding onto something for a very long time, and now you are starting to release it. You never know what will happen when you finally let go of something that has been such a weight on your heart. You are in a time of releasing something to see what comes from it.
The Queen of Swords appears next, showing you as a wise person. You have had to walk through an incredibly challenging time to get to this place, and now you worry that you have changed. You are trying to balance out being sharp and wise with being kind and boundaried. You hold a sword now and are not afraid to defend yourself. You have learned some valuable lessons, and it has not been easy. Now you sit with the wisdom that you gained, trying to not be defensive of new opportunities.
The Ace of Pentacles appears next showing new opportunities for you that will go really well. This is a new beginning for you- a new start. If you have been reaching out and seeking the next good thing in your life, it's just about here. This is something that would balance and ground you- and will be good for your finances too. You have a new opportunity that could come in the form of a career or financial opportunity. But it could also come in the form of a stable and grounded relationship.
The key to this reading is The Tower. There are times that things have to fall apart completely to help you to get where you are meant to be. Everything fell apart, and you truly felt like it was the end of the world. Nothing made sense anymore and you couldn't find firm ground to put your feet on. But The Tower was built on an unstable foundation, and was never going to last. The only way that you could get out was for the whole thing to fall apart. It's hard- but there are times that this is what has to happen. You were shocked and devastated- and now you have an Ace to work with. Things are not always as they seem.
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you have come out of a really hard situation. Something really fell apart in your life, and you did not see it coming. You felt like you had lost everything. But then- you got back up. You started to let things go and have been reaching out to find the next opportunity. There's nothing in the way now, and an Ace comes right up to give you what you have been looking for. The path opens up once you are walking in the right direction. You are now the Queen of the hardest suit in the Tarot deck, and you are ready to move forward. You may be worried that this situation has made you too sharp and harsh. You have had to really become tough to get out, and now you worry that you will snap at people or be defensive when it is not called for. You have learned a lot from your situation, and now things are going to start building up again. While the Tower shook you up in every way, it was time for it to fall. You were not able to get where you were meant to go while being trapped inside of the Tower. Now you are free, and opportunities will be handed to you. Try to be balanced and calm. Don't judge the new opportunities from the past. You were in an unhealthy situation- and now you are free and being handed an Ace. Take it, take a deep breath, and move on.
If you need a reading this week, send a message to irisxtarot@gmail.com. If this reading was for you- hang in there and heal. It's better to be out of the Tower than to be trapped inside. It's going to be ok.
