Happy Autumn to the friends of Iris X Readings! The Summer can feel really busy, so I always appreciate the Autumn for the shorter days. I suppose I like to have a lot of rest and down time, and I associate darkness with peace and comfort. It's the time of the year that I regroup and reflect- and work with Tarot decks that are newer to me. This week's reading was done on the beautiful Slow Tarot, created by Lacey Bryant with help and wisdom from Drew Clark. This deck really is lovely to work with, and seems to slow down my mind to pay more attention to what I am seeing in the imagery. I love the darker colors with brightness woven in. The cards Feel easy and mellow to work with; with sharp and impactful messages. I shuffled the cards and asked for a reading for someone who will see this post. The reading begins with The Chariot, showing you moving through life at a very good pace. You are accomplishing your goals, and have a clear vision in mind for the future. You are doing the work that you need to to make things happen in your life. You are driven and have a tendency to spend your energy and time helping others. You are used to being on the move, and you don't sit still easily.
The Tower is next, showing disruption and destruction. Something fell apart in your life. It was a shock- not something that you anticipated. The Tower delivers a sudden blow that changes everything. Now, you don't know what to do or what to think. The things that you built your foundation on are crumbling, and all you can do is let it all fall.
The Ace of Swords comes up next. If you consider mythology, there are times when a single sword is handed to a hero. It represents a battle, but the power that it takes to make it through successfully. You have an opportunity through challenge to build something new in your life. You have a Sword to fight any battle, and you have the will and wit to win. You can turn this situation around and move forward again with focus and purpose.
The key to this reading is the Page of Wands. He is a messenger of Fire and change. If you look, he is on an adventure and has confidence to get through a challenge with a smile. There is something new for you to focus on. I pulled some more cards to get a sense of the message that the Page brings. The Fool and The Hermit appeared. This shows a new journey that brings you to a place of wisdom. The change that is happening may feel jarring and upsetting in all ways- but you find your way to wisdom through a new beginning. You just have to start walking.
Here's what I see. If this is your reading, you are used to moving along with ease. You tend to focus your energy on the growth of other people, and you have a lot of power to work with. As you were moving along at a comfortable and busy pace, something happened in Your life. You are likely used to being the person to help others. Something really stopped you in your tracks, causing you to question everything. You will make it through this time, and actually- you will do quite well. You are given a sign that you will be successful and victorious, building something new from a challenge. This will feel like a whole new start, but it brings you to a place of wisdom and clear sight. You have a journey ahead of you, and a lot to learn along the way. Years ago, I was talking to my son about Tarot cards. and he told me that The Hermit seemed like the Fool 'all grown up.' He pointed out that the colorful clothes become old and tattered, but he continues to walk and find his way. He grows old and wise through his adventures and learns about what is truly important. I think that this same thing will happen for the person that this reading is for. May you be safe and sound in your travels.
